Beginning during the Covid-pandemic, working from “home” was forced upon us like many professionals. Rather than allowing years of our lives waste away, we decided to take our work with us and see what we could of the world at the time. Starting out in a travel trailer, we took to the roads. As everything began going back to “normal”, we realized that we couldn’t go back. We had seen, learned, and experienced too much. We needed MORE. When my corporate job demanded I return to the office, I easily found remote positions from companies all over the US wanting to hire the best talent, no matter where they lived. I realized then, it’s the people with the skills that ultimately have the power, not the corporations with the money. I could write and develop software wherever and whenever I wanted. Corporations are very good at convincing us that we need them more than they need us. Don’t let them fool you! Even if you don’t want to learn software development, get good at something. Not just good, get GREAT! When you become the best at what you do, you can write your own ticket, pick your job, start your own business, and never be dependent on a 9-5 commute again!
